Madrid, 20 th april, 2026. Professor Álvaro Somoza, of the Nucleic Acids and Nanoparticles in Nanomedicine group at IMDEA Nanociencia, has been awarded the Nanomedicine Prize by the Spanish Society of Nanomedicine (SENM) and the Exobiopharma Chair at the University of Zaragoza.

The award recognizes the best work in nanomedicine. In this case, his research titled “Gold nanoparticles conjugated with aptamers enable the delivery of oligonucleotides to muscle stem cells to promote the regeneration of dystrophic muscles” has been recognized as the best in its field.

Nanomedicine Award from the Spanish Society of Nanomedicine (SENM) and the Exobiopharma Chair at the University of Zaragoza.

The Spanish Society of Nanomedicine (SENM) is a non-profit organization that brings together researchers working in nanomedicine in Spain. In accordance with its core objectives, and with the aim of highlighting and disseminating the best research conducted in Spain in this field, this research award is being offered in collaboration with the Exobiopharma Chair of Nanomedicine at the University of Zaragoza. The award will be granted to the best scientific work in nanomedicine, in any of its areas (diagnosis, therapy, delivery systems, etc.), published during the calendar year preceding the call for entries.
